This is an add-on that enables syncing between Sunbird and Google Calendar.
In this tutorial I’ll explain how-to set-up Sunbird to sync with Google Calendar.
- Download Add-On
- Install the Add-On
- Restart Sunbird
- Subscribe to Remote Calendar
- Select Calendar on the Network
- Google Calendar and Location
- Enter Username and Password
- Enter Calendar Name and Colour
- Enter Username and Password
- Calendar Created
- Repeat for Multiple Calendars
Requirements:
- Mozilla Sunbird 0.8
- Google Calendar Account
- Start off with downloading the ‘Provider for Google Calendar’ Add-on here, by simply clicking on ‘Download Now’.
- Now open Sunbird and go to Tools -> Add-ons, Click on ‘Install’ and navigate to the file you downloaded in Step 1, click on it and click ‘Open’. Then Sunbird will then make you wait 5 seconds before you can click ‘Install’, after this time click ‘Install’.

- Once you’ve clicked install and Sunbird has loaded the Add-on you’ll be asked to restart Sunbird so click on the ‘Restart Sunbird’ button and wait for Sunbird to reload.

- The add-on will already be enabled so we can continue setting-up the syncing. Go to File -> Subscribe to Remote Calendar.

- On the next window select ‘On the Network’ and click ‘Next’.

- On the next window select ‘Google Calendar’ and the ‘Location’ field we need to fill with an address from Google Calendar, so do the following:
- Go to http://www.google.com/calendar/, and log-in.
- On the calendar click on ‘Settings’ under the ‘My calendars’ tab on the left hand side.

- On the next page you’ll see all of your calendars, click on one of them you wish to use with Sunbird.

- On the ‘Calendar Details’ scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the ‘XML’ icon in the ‘Private Address’ section.

- Then a long URL will appear, copy this URL and paste it into Sunbird’s location field and click ‘Next’.

- You’ll then need to enter the username and password you use to log-in to Google Calendar and click ‘OK’.
- Give a name for your calendar (Mostly useful if you intend on having several calendars for different categories, like Birthdays, Work, etc.) and select a colour, before clicking ‘Next’.

- You may be asked to enter you username and password again for Google Calendar.
- You should then be presented with a message saying your calendar has been created and you can click ‘Finish’.

- If you have more calendars to add repeat steps 4 – 10.
